Mechanical processing of plastic product production

Dec 12, 2023 Leave a message

Using plastic processing methods such as metal and wood to manufacture plastic products with precise dimensions or small quantities, it can also be used as an auxiliary process for molding, such as sawing extruded profiles. Due to the different properties of plastic compared to metal and wood, plastic has poor thermal conductivity, low coefficient of thermal expansion and elastic modulus. When the fixture or tool is subjected to excessive pressure, it is prone to deformation, melting easily during cutting, and easily adhering to the tool. Therefore, when plastic is machined, the cutting tools and corresponding cutting speeds used must be adapted to the characteristics of the plastic. The commonly used mechanical processing methods include sawing, shearing, punching, turning, planing, drilling, grinding, polishing, threading, etc. In addition, plastics can also be cut, drilled, and welded using lasers.
